Cloister at Sea Island

Another great property that is a drivable destination from Naples, Florida is the Cloister at Sea Island. Depending on how many times you stop it takes about 6-8 hours to get there by car. Great place to go if you are not ready to hop on a plane just yet. If you have a private jet, that would be another option to fly in to St. Simons Island. Sea Island also pairs well with Montage Palmetto Bluff if you wanted to add some dimension to your trip. When we stayed there we were in a room in the Cloister. This building exudes traditional elegance. Old world feel combined with top notch service and sumptuous dining. The rooms were warm and inviting with vaulted ceilings. The rooms had all the technology you would want including DVR on the TV which was nice to record or usual shows. They had bingo night, which is a long standing tradition at Sea Island. The warm cookies in the afternoons were our kids favorite, well that and the candy store at the snack shack. We went to the Lodge for dinner one night for chicken and waffles which were just the comfort food I wanted that night. The lodge was a country club ambiance and great place for golfers. It was a short 10 min shuttle ride from the Cloister but if you are there for Golf I recommend you stay at the Lodge. They have 2 champion golf courses, and for those looking for a little privacy we recommend the cottages. This is a great place to bring your family. Our kids loved Sea Island and were treated like little VIPs from the moment they arrived. They were given their little totes filled with an array of toys and a little scavenger hunt passport to explore the property with. The kids club was huge broken down by age groups and even had their own movie theater with fresh popped popcorn for movie nights. It rained one of the days we were there so they set up a rainy day movie for our family which was a hit with the kids. Overall the thing we remember the most about Sea Island was the service. From the bellman, to the concierge to the wait staff every touch point made an impression.
