Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica

ROOMS: Not a bad view in the house.  There are several buildings of guest rooms all with three-four stories, one of which is adults only, for those traveling without kids.  All three buildings offer a water view due to the location on the isthmus.  The rooms were very spacious all offering a nice lanai to sit out and relax on their plush lounge furniture with views of the bay or ocean mixed with tropical forest scenery. This is a great place to spot the howler monkeys or many species of bird.  There is also the option to stay in one of their private residences for larger families, couples who are wanting that extra space and privacy, or those looking to entertain and impress.  Villas provide all the conveniences of a private home, including full kitchen and laundry facilities. The views from the residences were unmatched most with private plunge pools all offer exclusive amenities such as a private butler, complimentary laundry service, custom stocking of your pantry, and the option to host the most fabulous dinners or parties. Some of our favorites from their private party menu was a ceviche bar and lobster mac and cheese.

ACTIVITIES:  There is so much to do both on and off property at the Four Seasons.  Some of my favorite things that we did was the zip lining, Pura Vida Climb, and the sunrise kayak.  The Pura Vida climb can be done as a group with an activities director or on your own if you like. It’s such a great workout and the views you get along the way make it all that more fun.  We stopped to check out some howler monkeys half way through the workout.  The sunrise kayak was a great way to start the day and a great arm workout.  You can also do the paddleboard if you prefer that to a kayak for that full core workout. We did an off property excursion to do the zip lining, which was my first zip line experience and totally worth taking the day away from the resort.  The first couple times were a little scary and took some adjusting of my position, but I felt totally safe and by the third one I was feeling like a pro.

POOL:  There are several pools on property, some that are more family friendly and others adult only for a quiet and serine setting.  While they have a pool and beach menu if asked they will bring you food off of other menus on property.  We were happy to find out we could order sushi at the pool on a lazy afternoon. For kids and adults alike they will enjoy the ice cream cart that comes around in the afternoon to the pools with complimentary ice cream.

BEACH: There are two beaches at the Four Seasons, one that offers a variety of water sports and activities and the other that is perfect for relaxing and taking a dip in the water. During our stay we tried out a variety of water sports offered such as a sunrise kayak, and paddle boarding.  They also offer dives, snorkeling, and surfing lessons to name a few. Those guests looking for more advanced surfing, they have pros who can take you off property to catch some larger waves.

RESTAURANTS:  There is a great variety of restaurants on property some favorites being Cena Sociale- Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar for authentic Italian Cuisine, Caracol set over the Arnold Palmer Golf Course offering steak and seafood, and Sol Y Sombra for a Latin inspired rotisserie and fish house. If you just want a great burger be sure to check out CR Burger Shack before or after Golf or Tennis. Ticos by day is a lounge offering healthy and sustainable cuisine, midafternoon they offer mixology classes and at Sunset it’s a great place to chill in their plush sofas and enjoy some live music with friends and family.  Sushi lovers rejoice there is a great offering of rolls on their menu as well.

KIDS: Four Seasons is known for their great focus on the children in the family because if the kids are happy well so are the adults!  They offer their kids for all seasons complimentary and that’s not where it ends.  They also have kid’s menus at all of the restaurants, and lots of fun family activities to do such as chocolate making classes, golf or tennis clinics, salsa lessons and snorkeling!  If you want a romantic night out without the kids they will arrange a sitter for you.

SPA: Make sure to make time for a spa day at the Four Seasons Costa Rica.  Arrive early for some time in their hot and cold plunge pools to revitalize and work your circulation.  The massage I had was ranking at the top of my list of treatments!  After your shower, why not use their complimentary make-up to get ready for that special night out?

SERVICE: Service was warm and welcoming from the very first contact after arriving at the airport.  We were greeted from the Four Seasons staff at a podium right after leaving customs with a fresh cool towel and drink.  The staff at the pool provided service with a smile. They remembered us and treated us like family.  Definitely something that stood out in our experience in Costa Rica.

EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCES: Taste the Stars was unlike anything I have seen before!  This stargazing dining experience is set up for the ultimate of romance. Guests can see the southern sky through a powerful telescope while dining on a specially prepared menu.  They literally have real meteorite dusk sprinkled on your food!  This night out is one that you will not soon forget!
