Day 4: This morning we headed off with Nesco to the Moremi Reserve which is close to Khwai but is government owned. Check in required but no passports. We were once again in search of the "leopard."
Day 2 We flew to Maun, Botsawana on a small plane and then got on a 5 seater to fly to Khwai River Lodge. The landing strip was a cleared sandy road but our pilot Ziggy, (how can one have confidence in a pilot with that name) brought down the plane as if he were landing on glass.
We recently traveled with AMA Waterways through the Netherlands and Belgium. The ship was new and the furnishings were lovely. It was our first river cruise and most certainly, not our last. The crew of the ship were helpful, dedicated to passengers' needs and friendly. Each day the menu presented many choices and excellent tasty food.
When I think of Myanmar I will not think of it as Burma anymore but will remember the true name which was restored after wining independence from the British more than 50 years ago.
ROOMS: Spacious and elegantly appointed rooms with amazing bathrooms all with a deep soaking tub. We had requested the split floor plan so our bedroom was separate from the livingroom. This is a great option for families traveling with kids. When we arrived there was a plate of cookies for the kids with a letter with both kids’ names on it. The crib was high quality with a nice hotel blanket and upgraded baby bath amenities.
My whirlwind visit to Hong Kong while very short was packed with great food, culture and shopping. This was my first visit to Hong Kong and before I left I had heard so many times what a great shopping city it was. What I learned is that it is so much more then that. I flew in on Cathay Pacific airlines on business class which was very comfortable and the service wonderful. We spent some time in the BA lounge at JFK and it was a great place to recharge and relax before the flight. Our flight departed at 1:00 AM so right after a light meal I went to sleep.
My travels to New Zealand had to be both the best destination and experience I have ever had! I visited the North and the South Islands and stayed in some incredible lodges and villas... Read more!
Venice was the last stop on my week in Italy. I took the train from Florence and was seated in first class seats for about a two hour trip. The train ride was a simple process and comfortable way to travel. If you are traveling without a group I recommend adding services so you can have help with your luggage getting onto the train. When I arrived in Venice I was met by my guide and taken to the private water taxi... Read more!
Let me start off by mentioning this was our first attempt at a family vacation with both Samantha who is now 5 months old and Emma who is 2.5 years old. We were a little nervous on how her sleep would go with all four of us in one room. She only recently started sleeping through the night and I was not expecting her to keep that up while in a hotel room... Read more!
Last Monday Will and I disembarked in Miami off the best cruise we have ever experienced! We were on a week long Caribbean cruise on the Crystal Serenity. Normally I would do a day by day review of our experience but I thought I would do this blog a little differently. Since I experienced so many unique differences on my Crystal cruise from all the other cruises I have been on, I thought I would make a list of all of my favorite things about the Serenity...Read More
